Southport is one of the UK’s favourite seaside destinations. It has 22 miles of sandy beaches, wonderful parks, and a shopping and cultural centre. Throughout the year there are events and festivals adding to the vibrant cultural scene.
Southport Market
The market is in the centre, on King Street, close to the Victorian Lord Street Boulevard. The Chapel Street Outdoor Market is open on Tuesday and there is a Producers Market on the last Thursday of the month. The Markets are in the centre of the town’s retail area and there are many independent shops and cafes near by.
There are over 100 restaurants, cafes, tea rooms and bars in the town centre. The Restaurateurs Association represents many of the town’s eateries and produces Southport Eating Out Guide which you can receive by emailing eatingoutguide@visitsouthport.com .

Shopping in Lord Street Boulevard
Lord Street takes pride of place in the town centre. The historic boulevard has beautiful gardens and fountains on one side and shops under canopies on the other. The mix of high quality shops, cafes and bars is eclectic, and indulgent. Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, with its glass-domed roof is opposite the Town Hall. It is open 7 days a week and has a range of shops, cafes and restaurants It hosts over 30 independent shops in a stunning building.
British Lawnmower Museum
British Lawnmower Museum is unique in the whole world. It is by popular acclaim one of the world’s top ten unusual museums! It boasts over 300 lawn-mowing exhibits showing off the garden bits and pieces of the great and good.

Southport in Bloom
In 2016 the town won Britain in Bloom’s Best Coastal Resort. Teams of volunteers plant stunning and imaginative gardens every year. There are summer and winter planting schemes to keep the town colourful throughout the year.

Visit Southport has a new product for groups offering great ideas for four-night, group-friendly visits. ‘Southport Pick ‘n’ Mix’, gives groups the opportunity to combine exploring the town with visits to near by destinations. These include Liverpool, Martin Mere Wetland Centre, Formby Beach, Samlesbury Hall, World of Glass, Ena Mill, and The Courtyard, Tarleton.
